Creating a PRN or Payment Reference Number in SSS is the first step you should take before you can pay your contribution online and it’s actually easier now with the new SSS online platform.
Here’s a step by step to be able to generate your SSS PRN, but first, you have to have an online SSS account. If you don’t have an account yet, then register through the SSS portal first.
If you already have an SSS online account, follow these steps to create your SSS PRN for your voluntary contribution.
When do you need to Generate a PRN in SSS?
You need to generate an SSS PRN (Payment Reference Number) in the Philippines every time you make a contribution or loan payment to the Social Security System (SSS).
Payments for SSS contributions and loan payments are normally being done by your employer but if you are no longer employed but want to continue paying your SSS contribution then you have to do the generation of PRN yourself.
By generating a PRN as a Voluntary type you can also change your employment status from employed to voluntary SSS member automatically.
Step-by-Step Guide in Generating SSS PRN and Choosing Voluntary Payment Option
1. Go to https://www.sss.gov.ph and click on the “Member” button.
2. You will get the login page, so enter your User ID and Password.
Once you are logged in, there will be a survey pop-up, you can skip it for now or a message box, and you can close those in the meantime.
3. Get a PIN Number set to your mobile number.
It will ask you to get a PIN and this is going to be sent to the mobile number that is registered in your SSS account. If it’s not the correct number then you have to go to the nearest SSS branch to update your information in their system. Once you click on GET PIN. You should receive the PIN number in your inbox.
4. Once you receive it Enter it in the PIN section and Click on Login
5. You will get a popup and you just have to scroll down and click on I agree button.
6. Hover over the Payment Reference Number
You will see the menu below your SSS details. You can hover your mouse over the payment reference number (PRN), then Contribution, and Click on Generate PRN.
7. Click on Contributions
If you’re doing it for Loans then choose Loans.
8. Scrool down to the form section.
Scroll down to see the section you need to fill out and complete. Its normally filled out with default information but you can update it based on what month and Membership Type you need to choose.
9. Choose your Membership Type.
10. Select your premium amount from the list.
You can scroll down until you find the correct amount you need to pay. Check this link to check the amount you have to pay based on your income or the benefits you’d like to achieve.

Now you have the PRN you can use to pay your SSS contribution using accredited mobile applications. This will be added to your list of PRN, and you can create several PRN for the succeeding months you can just login into SSS to get the PRN if it’s time for you to pay them.
